The centaur (Κένταυρος) is a hybrid with the body of a horse and with the torso of a man extending where the horse's neck should be.

Centaurs originate from greek mythology, dating back to around 500 BC. Noteable centaurs are Chiron (Χείρων), the teacher of Achilles, the couple Hylonome and Cyllarus, both died in a battle with Lapiths.
