The ogre is a large manlike creature infamous for eating the flesh of humans, especially children. They are generally strong, often have disproportionately large heads and are nigh insatiable.

Ogres are featured, in various forms, in the folklore of many countries in Europe, dating as far back as to around 1,000 AD, with the tale of Beowulf.
